Summary
This workshop explores consecutive interpreting and gives participants to explore some of the benefits and the challenges of adopting this strategy as part of the management of effective communication.
We will consider what scenarios are best suited for consecutive interpreting and there will be an opportunity to understand the process and skills we might need to interpret effectively using a consecutive approach, including note-taking, managing the flow of communication and managing meaningful sentiments. We will also discuss how to manage the expectations of our clients and think about how we might explain our rationale for managing communication this way. The session will incorporate some scripted role-play to put into practice our knowledge in a safe and supportive dynamic.
