Tokyo Paralympics 2020 – British Sign Language

Did you know the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games started on Tuesday 24th August 2021? 4,400 athletes are set to compete in 539 medal events across 22 sports over the next two weeks!

What are the Paralympic Games?

The Paralympic Games are a major international sports competition for athletes with disabilities. Comparable to the Olympic Games, the Paralympics are split into Winter Games and Summer Games, which alternately occur every two years.

Since the late 20th century, the Paralympics have been held in the same city that hosts the Olympic Games; the Paralympics follow shortly after the Olympics.

It’s already been a positive start to the tournament for the British team, with several medals already in the bag at the end of day one, including a Para-Cycling gold and two Para-Swimming silvers. Remark! wish Team GB well for the remainder of the Tokyo Paralympics Games 2020.

Here at Remark! we are really excited to share with you some of our favourite sports and how to sign them in British Sign Language!
