Remark! & the Duchess’ Wedding Dress

Record breaking numbers have been visiting Buckingham Palace this summer, to view a special display – the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress – and Remark! Translation have been there every step of the way!

For the second year in a row Remark! have provided the BSL translation and subtitles for Buckingham Palace’s hand-held audio guides.

Last year the State Rooms were translated, a first ever for Buckingham Palace, allowing Deaf and Hard of Hearing visitors to experience the Palace in a way not before possible.  This year we were excited to create the BSL and subtitles for the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress tour, an honour indeed!  Both BSL translations have been combined to create one beautiful, immersive tour, all accessed by your very own hand-held guide.

The hand-held guides allow visitors to select BSL tracks depending on what room is being visited, so you can take your time.  The tour is the same as the audio tour but with a few extras… added options include learning about the inspiring story of Princess Alice, the Duke of Edinburgh’s mother who was herself Deaf.

We don’t want to give the story away though! The palace is closed now until next summer where we hope once again, we’ll be invited to provide the BSL for the next exhibition. We can’t wait!  Further information on admissions.
