Remark! were delighted and honoured to be invited by UK Deaf Sports to film a welcoming speech by Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), shown at the Deaf Sports Personality of the Year (DSPY) awards ceremony on Saturday 27th November.
The team from Remark! consisting of Mark Nelson, Managing Director, Rebecca Edwards, Head of Translation, and Gemma Winning, Production Assistant, plus equipment, travelled the short journey from the Remark! offices in Greenwich to film Seb Coe’s speech at the LOCOG headquarters in Canary Wharf.
Once filming was complete the team returned to the Remark! Translation studio where they edited, translated into BSL and subtitled the film in preparation for the big DSPY event.
Seb Coe’s speech recognised the huge achievements by all the sports men and women, and their coaches, families and friends that have helped get them to the height of their sporting career. In addition, he stressed the importance of the Deaflympics in Athens in 2013 in not only encouraging more young people to take up sport and play it to the highest level, but, through the showcasing of the extraordinary sporting talent amongst the Deaf community to challenge pre-conceptions about people with hearing difficulties.
To the huge delight of the DSPY audience, Seb Coe also greeted the audience and wished them an enjoyable evening, in British Sign Language!
And remember, please don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca, Head of Translation, to discuss how we can help you with your translation requirements.
