How to… make your video accessible to blind audiences

To make your video accessible you’ll need our Audio Description service.

Audio description, or AD, is where we carefully script additional extras to the dialogue of a programme to describe elements that would normally be purely visual.

This is things like – positioning of characters, body language and facial expressions, the look of buildings, graphics screens and the like.

It’s a very fine balance between describing key elements and interrupting the natural dialogue and therefore flow of a programme. Our audio describers are all experienced and will create a script that includes all that it should without being overbearing.

The script will be sent to you for approval before recording.

Once at the sound studio for the voice record your AD will be supervised by an experienced member of staff. The timing of AD is crucial.

We offer a choice of voiceover artists so there’s a voice to suit every production!

What you do:

  1. Send us your video and a transcript
  2. Choose your voiceover artist
  3. Receive our AD script and approve
  4. Receive the final version.

  6. Prep all materials
