Hollyoaks star Rachel Shenton is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS).
The twenty-four-year-old actress who plays Mitzee Minniver on the Channel 4 soap will trek the 19,341ft to the top of the Tanzanian mountain. The trek will take ten days, climbing in challenging conditions where temperatures can fall to minus 25 degrees.
Shenton, whose late father was deaf for the last two years of his life, has supported Deaf charities by volunteering, fundraising and learning sign language before starring in Hollyoaks. Last year she skydived to raise money for the NDCS.
She said: "The skydive was the most incredible thing I've experienced in my entire life. The cause is very close to my heart and I encourage everyone to get behind NDCS in helping to overcome the challenges deaf children face in everyday life."
