Remark! would like to wish a warm welcome to Sandra Channings, our new Midlands tutor.
Sandra has been a BSL teacher for over 20 years. Prior to Remark! she worked at Bournville College as their ‘Main grade lecturer’ teaching BSL Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. She also taught basic sign language to local people, offering a range of topics and skill levels. Her expertise extended to working with vulnerable groups including those with learning difficulties, autism, and visual impairment. In 2006 Sandra received an award for teaching Deaf Awareness from the Royal National Institute for the Deaf. She is a qualified assessor for Signature’s Level 1 and Level 2 in BSL.
Sandra is a true ‘Brummie’ having lived in the area since childhood, and will be bringing her strong use of regional signs to the classroom.
Outside of work she is a history fanatic, and loves nothing better than exploring what life was like in the old days. Alongside reading her other interests include meeting new people – something she’ll be doing plenty of in her new role as BSL tutor!
