Jonny Nelson, Manager Remark! Community
Remark! Community is a charity set up by Deaf people to work with the Deaf community to try and reignite the Deaf community spirit of old.
Deafness is a unique disability. With an entirely different language to contend with many Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users cannot access mainstream provisions. Remark! Community has been created to promote equality of access to services in British Sign Language, to include advocacy, information and advice, and to increase socialisation through deaf clubs, lunch clubs, sports and recreation.
Remark! Community aims to:
We have been uniquely established alongside a commercial company, creating ongoing opportunities to benefit from the company’s efficiency and resources. Every time you book an interpreter, register to attend a training course, commission a film, or send us a project to be translated onto BSL a portion of funds received is donated to Remark! Community to spend on worthwhile causes. Many thanks to all our clients and friends, without you this would not be possible.
Our website has been designed to be an interactive and valued source of information for the Deaf community. Through these pages you can find further information about Remark! Community, forthcoming events, latest Charity news and Deaf news, and useful How To guides.
